PC game hype list

The following is a list of pc games that I’m personally looking forward to. They are not listed in any specific order. There will be an Xbox list and a “Not really interested” list.

Spore

Let’s start with Spore. The new creature-life simulation game that’s been awaited by hungry gamers for years. The game is mainly going to be about creatures and life revolving them. Starting from a single celled organism and evolving your creatures into different phases of life. Each phase of life will include a different type of game play. Lately a taster has been released titled the Spore Creature Creator. In this “demo”, the player can create almost any creature that the player can think of.

Players can share their creation online in its very own social network.

To be totally honest this game does seem intimidating since it features aspects of various genres. Only time will tell if this game is truly going to be as good as the hype surrounding it.

Starcraft 2

Just a note ,I haven’t played starcraft before yet the immense hype surrounding starcraft 2 is tempting me to go and buy starcraft and give it a try.

Call of Duty 5 – World at war

Call of Duty(COD)4 was truly an exceptional game. CoD4 was based in a modern era and gave new life into the FPS genre.

Unfortunately CoD5 is set back in WWII. WWII genre has been milked over and over. The thing that sets CoD5 slightly apart is the fact it is based in the pacific. The last WWII pacific game I played was Medal of honor Pacific Assault which was only fun once when I played it via LAN.

COD5 uses the same engine as COD4. With all this said there is something inside of me that cannot wait to try this game.

Far Cry 2

Far Cry 2 looks so beautiful. Far cry2 is set in Africa (right in my backyard) with a new open world environment. Claiming that you have only one objective in the game and how you get to this objective is entirely up to the player. The environment is also set to be very destructible. I recently saw a trailer where a flamethrower was used to start a feld-fire.

I’m really looking forward to this one.

Tomb Raider Underworld

Lara is back again and is ready to venture into the underworld. New gameplay dynamics is promised as well. Weather is going to play a roll in how to get to your goal.

The game will also feature an open world level system that will give the player access to the whole level to try and find different ways of getting to your goal. Lara looks even better than usual, so I will be awaiting her with open arms.

Bioshock 2 + 3

Bioshock 2 is set to be a prequel to Bioshock(1). There is so little known of this game at this moment and yet Bioshock 3 was announced as well.

This does put me of since it is obvious that they are trying to milk this cow. Yet that doesn’t matter if they manage to keep Bioshock as … well Bioshock.

Doom 4

Production has been announced a few months ago and little else is known. Some speculation suggests that the game is might play off on earth and might even be a remake of Doom2. The question stands: Will it be as good as the previous Doom games?

Portal 2

Portal was something I didn’t expect. When I first read bout the previews, it just didn’t grasp my attention. Once the game was released and the reviews giving it extremely high ratings. South African gaming magazine NAG even went as far as to give it a ridiculous 100% score.

Portal 2 is also rumoured to be a prequel. It doesn’t bother me just as long as I can play it. Just don’t expect it soon, we are speaking of valve you know.

Half life 2 Episode 3

Yes this was bound to be on the list. After leaving such a hunger in episode two I simply must get episode 3. This is yet another game on the list that little is known about. Episode 2 left us with a lot of questions and episode 3 is taking its time before telling us.

Let us wait and see what comes up.

Lord of the rings – Conquest

Star wars battlefront, a game that should have been great but it sadly failed. Now the same team is back and is having a go at the Lord of the Rings franchise.

The trailer(see link) does not look very good at all.

I’m still looking forward to this.

Prototype

This game looks totally awesome. Prototype is a RPG type of action superhero combination. It features a main character that can change appearance by consuming innocent bystanders and is also exceptional at the art of pakour. Jumping from rooftop to rooftop.

Diablo 3

Announced a few days ago and it already has more publicity around it than any game that I know of. There is no doubt about it that Diablo 3 is a game that a lot of people have been waiting for.
